Pedro Jervell – Crop

Bees collect materials in the environment with their own bodies and with their own bodies they process and transform these materials to build their hives. Taking this stance, we search the city for available materials, waste, surpluses from shops, industries, houses and gardens. In the workshop, we rehearse infinite combinations of the harvested materials, decompose, mix with each other. This experience of harvesting, transforming and materializing shows us the limits of our body of our ability to survive even if it is in the urban jungle.

Gørvell is an organism interested in exploring and experimenting the environment, it’s history and it’s imaginary, measuring it’s effects within time and space.

Until 2020, Gørvell’s current structure constituted Skrei, having held exhibitions, communications, and workshops inside and outside the country. His works have been presented in several cultural institutions such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum (Lisbon, 2016), Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT, Lisbon, 2017), Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon, 2018), Cité du Vin (Bordeaux) , 2018), Museum of the City of Porto (2019), José de Guimarães International Art Center (Guimarães, 2019), Matadero (Madrid, 2019), Royal Academy of Arts (London, 2019), MNAC, National Museum of Contemporary Art (2020).
