LINA is a European architecture platform that connects over 30 organisations from across the continent. It supports and promotes young architects and professionals in related fields. LINA is an ambitious community of individuals who are united by creative ideas and open, inclusive values. Its goal is to steer architectural and building processes towards more sustainable, regenerative and responsible practices in line with the commitments of the European Green Deal.
LINA’s members are organisations from all over Europe, including festivals, museums, universities, research institutions, cultural organisations, publishers, and foundations. Together, these organisations develop the LINA architecture programme, which comprises artistic research, exhibitions, public interventions, books and publications, films, conferences, lectures, talks and summer schools. These programmes enable fellows to research, create, learn and collaborate with institutions and local communities, helping them to develop and test new ideas in practice.
LINA’s core mission is to support emerging practitioners working in architecture and related disciplines. Every year, LINA publishes an open call for applications, inviting individuals and practices with innovative ideas to apply. Twenty to twenty-five applicants are selected to become LINA Fellows and receive an invitation to the LINA Forum. This key networking and idea-sharing event will take place in Pristina in 2025, Barcelona in 2026, Timișoara in 2027, and Vilnius in 2028. Previously, the Forum was held as the LINA Conference in Ljubljana (2022), Copenhagen (2023) and Sarajevo (2024).
LINA engages fellows in its architecture programme as mentors, facilitators, researchers, writers, designers, curators, exhibitors and advocates, encouraging collaboration with communities. LINA supports individuals interested in the future of our planet who share values such as curiosity, collaboration, openness, justice and responsibility in their professional development. International European cooperation is key in this regard.
From 2026 onwards, the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana will host the LINA Festival in collaboration with the Museum of Architecture and Design each year. This event provides the public with an insight into the projects and processes that LINA fellows have worked on as part of the programme over the past year. It also provides an opportunity for members and fellows to share their experiences and insights. The festival encourages reflection on how architecture can contribute to a better shared future.
We invite UL FA alumni to apply to the LINA Open Call. For more information, please contact the LINA team.
The project is co-financed by the Creative Europe programme of the EU. Participation of Swiss architects is supported by Pro Helvetia. The project is also co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
