Petra Čeferin je diplomirala na Fakulteti za arhitekturo v Ljubljani in magistrirala ter dosegla naziv licenciat iz znanosti in tehnologije na Univerzi za tehnologijo v Helsinkih. Doktorski študij je nadaljevala v okviru Fakultete za arhitekturo, Univerze za tehnologijo v Helsinkih in Univerze v Ljubljani, kjer je leta 2003 doktorirala. Post-doktorsko raziskovalno delo je kot Fulbright štipendistka nadaljevala na Univerzi Columbia v New Yorku.
Je avtorica in urednica knjig Constructing a Legend: The International Exhibitions of Finnish Architecture 1957–1967 (Helsinki, 2003); Transforming Reality with Architecture: Finnish Case (Rim, 2008); Architectural Epicentres: Inventing Architecture, Intervening in Reality (s C. Požar; Ljubljana, 2008) in Projekt arhitektura: Kreativna praksa v času globalnega kapitalizma (z J. Bickert in C. Požar; Ljubljana, 2010). Petra Čeferin je tudi avtorica številnih kritičnih člankov o moderni in sodobni arhitekturni produkciji, in članica uredništva knjižne zbirke Teoretska praksa arhitekture. Je prejemnica nagrade Bruno Zevi za historično-kritični esej (Rim, 2008).
Na Fakulteti za arhitekturo v Ljubljani je nosilka predmeta Zgodovina in teorija arhitekture 1 ter izbirnih predmetov Analiza sodobne arhitekture in Arhitekturna teorija in kritika.

Petra Čeferin graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana. She received a Master of Architecture degree and a Licentiate of Science and Technology degree from Helsinki University of Technology (HUT). She continued with her doctoral studies at the HUT and University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Architecture, where she received a PhD degree. She did post-doctoral research as a Fulbright scholar at Columbia University in New York. She is the author of the books Constructing a Legend: The International Exhibitions of Finnish Architecture 1957–1967 (Helsinki, 2003), Transforming Reality with Architecture: Finnish Case (Rome, 2008); and co-editor of Architectural Epicentres: Inventing Architecture, Intervening in Reality (with C. Požar; Ljubljana, 2008) and Project Architecture: Creative Practice in the Time of Global Capitalism (with J. Bickert and C. Požar; Ljubljana, 2010). Petra Čeferin is also the author of numerous articles on contemporary and modern architecture, and a member of the editorial board of the architectural book series Theoretical Practice of Architecture (TPA). She is the recipient of the Bruno Zevi Prize for a historical-critical essay (Rome, 2008). Čeferin leads the following courses at the Faculty of Architecture, University in Ljubljana: Architectural History and Theory I, Analysis of Contemporary Architecture, and Architectural Theory and Critique.
